Red Road flats to be demolished in double ‘blowdown’ - April 2010
Two blocks of flats at Red Road in Glasgow now look likely to be demolished next year in a double ‘blowdown’. Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) plans to bring down the two blocks on the site at the same time to minimise disruption to the local community. more >
Red Road takes centre stage at Gallery of Modern Art - Feb 2010
An arts project capturing residents’ memories of the Red Road flats is taking centre stage at an exhibition in Glasgow’s renowned Gallery of Modern Art. The Multi-story exhibition, featuring photographs and video, including the product of a Camera Obscura project and Tall Stories short video animations, is on show at one of Scotland’s leading art venues, Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art between February 20 and June 24.

When they were built in the 1960s, they were the tallest high-rise flats in Europe, but they soon came to be among the most notorious. Now, just 45 years after they were built, a programme will begin to demolish Glasgow’s Red Road flats.
